About S.E.I.G.E.
Reliable
& Effective. Welcome to S.E.I.G.E.
Some
self defense system's training methods
can result in the teaching of "sport"
techniques that work well in a controlled
environment but are not applicable in
a real life situation. Conventional martial
arts teach complicated moves and techniques
that fail to take into consideration the
time and effort needed to execute those
moves. We consider our training to be
simple, reliable, and effective.
Programs
Below is a list of current programs and
a synopsis of each that S.E.I.G.E., Inc.
has to offer. They are not the only programs
in existence however. We can create programs
specific to the client’s needs.
C.A.P.S.
(Controlling Aggressive Persons Safely)
C.A.P.S. is a “hands on” and lecture
approach to controlling and restraining
people in a safe manner, reducing liability.
This training is often taught to hospital
security personnel who deal with persons
who are a threat to themselves or others.
The student learns how to use less intrusive
means of controlling and restraining persons.
This training is also useful for school
sentries who deal with children who become
violent and need to be controlled with
minimal force. Training is usually 8 hours.
Strategic
Communication
Students will learn verbal techniques
to diffuse potentially violent or combative
situations. The training is a lecture
and “workshop” format which places the
student in role playing situations, allowing
them to utilize their verbal skills to
deescalate volatile incidents. Verbal
tactics will become a “counter-offensive”
weapon in the student’s repertoire.
Self Defense
This program is offered to both men and
women where “awareness” is stressed to
assist in “prevention." Recognizing
a confrontation before it occurs is the
key to one’s survival. Students are taught
different survival tactics, weapons awareness,
environmental considerations and physical
alternatives. The training can range from
2 hours to 8 hours and is offered in lecture
and “hands on” format.
Edge Impact
Weapon Awareness
This program takes a comprehensive look
at various weapons and how they can be
utilized or deployed against a person.
Training is done both by lecture and hands
on. The student will gain a better understanding
of what harsh realities we face in our
society when it comes to weapons and the
intent to use them against another. Training
can range from 2 hours to 4 hours.
Unarmed
Restraint and Control Tactics
This program is usually taught to civilians
who are not equipped with the tools that
are carried by law enforcement or military
personnel such as handcuffs, batons and
side arms. The techniques involve empty
hand defense and restraint/joint manipulation.
Use of force and Article 35 of the NYS
Penal Law are also lectured in this training.
Training is typically 8 hours.
Edge Impact Weapons Control Dynamics
EIWCD program is “hands on” training
where the student first understands the
philosophy and then progresses to the
application of edge/impact weapons. The
student will learn the offense to better
understand how to defend against the edge/impact
weapon. The training is usually 8 hours
and covers such topics as Spontaneous
knife defense, safety handcuffing, firearms
disarming and firearms retention.
Concealed
Carry Tactics for Peace and Police Officers
The student is given a comprehensive
look at such topics as holster considerations,
clothing considerations, use of force
issues, the “Sidearm Draw stroke”, building
“motor memory” and body language cues.
This program can be trained both “hands
on” or in a lecture format as an information
seminar. Training can be 4 to 8 hours.
Defensive
Tactics for Peace and Police Officers
This programs supplements current academy
defensive tactics programs. Topics covered
incorporate all levels of the “use of
force continuum." Topics range from
basic communication skills to deadly physical
force issues. This training is both “hands
on” and lecture combined. The student
will learn skills that are “simple, effective
and retainable”. The training will consist
of 8 hours or more.
Weapon
Retention
The student will learn techniques and
tactics for retaining “tools of their
trade." Techniques are taught for
both in the holster and out of the holster
situations. The training is “hands on”
and pertains to both off duty and on duty
along with concealed carry. Training is
typically 8 hours or more.
Safety
Baton or Monadnock Baton
The safety baton module supplements “manufacturer”
baton programs to enhance the student’s
skills. Drills are trained dynamically
vs. statically to build confidence and
decrease liability. If trained in Monadnock
Baton, the student can be certified as
a “user” in either the Monadnock Expandable
Baton (MEB/Straight Baton) or the PR24
side handle batons. If certification is
being sought, both “hands on” and lecture
are taught. Each baton has a specific
training time allotted ranging from 4
to 8 hours. Students or agencies will
be responsible for purchasing the batons
from the manufacturer.
